SUSTech Campus (Dinkun Chen, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons modified)
Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), located in Shenzhen, China, is a leading research-oriented university known for its focus on science, technology, and innovation. In 2023, SUSTech built a new data center to help support its data computing and storage needs. The data center supports critical services such as research computing, online learning, and student information management, so even short interruptions could cause serious problems. Therefore, a reliable UPS battery system to keep IT systems running smoothly during power outages was urgently needed.
Customer Demand
For the newly built data center at SUSTech, the UPS battery system needs to ensure stable and fast power switching within milliseconds to support continuous operation of critical systems. The solution also needs to provide at least 20 minutes of backup time, allowing sufficient time for orderly system shutdown or power transfer. As the batteries are installed indoors on campus, high safety and adequate protection measures are essential. In addition, as a long-term infrastructure investment, the UPS battery system needs to operate reliably for many years with minimal maintenance.
To meet these requirements, the customer selected Vision Battery's REVO series UPS lithium batteries to support the Schneider Electric UPS systems used in the data center.
Project Introduction
To meet the customer's requirements, Vision Battery provided the REVO TP200 UPS lithium battery solution.

Vision Battery’s TP200 UPS lithium batteries deployed at SUSTech Data Center
The data center is equipped with a total of 10 Schneider Electric UPS units. Among them, eight 500 kVA/450 kW UPS units each use three Vision TP200 UPS lithium batteries (512V 100Ah), providing 20 minutes of backup time per system. In addition, two 400 kVA/360 kW UPS units each use two TP200 batteries, also delivering 20 minutes of backup time. In total, 28 TP200 UPS lithium batteries are deployed, with the capacity carefully calculated to meet the data center’s backup requirements under full load conditions.
The REVO TP200 lithium battery system is designed for three-phase UPS applications and is well suited for data center use. It uses high-rate LFP cells and a BMS developed by Vision Group, and integrates remote cloud monitoring and an intelligent fire protection module. The system focuses on reliability, safety, and long service life, supporting stable operation in critical power applications.
Key features of the REVO TP200 UPS lithium battery system include:
1. 95% Power Output Efficiency at 10C
The battery system supports high-rate discharge, with over 95% efficiency at 10C, meeting the fast power delivery needs of data centers.
2. 4-Level Safety Protection
A four-level protection design, covering cell, module, module set, and system levels, ensures safe and stable operation.
3. Remote Monitoring
An integrated cloud management system allows real-time monitoring and management of battery status throughout the system lifecycle.
4. Compatible with Various UPS Architectures
The battery system supports two-wire and three-wire connections, compatible with mainstream UPS system designs.
5. 15-year Long Service Life
Designed with a 15-year service life, the system provides reliable performance over long-term operation.
Project Value
The TP200 UPS lithium battery system deployed at the SUSTech Data Center has proven its real-world value through over 3 years of continuous operation without a single failure. It provides the required 20-minute backup reliably, keeping critical IT systems running smoothly during unexpected power outages. With a 4-level protection design, the batteries operate safely in the indoor data center, meeting strict safety standards for educational facilities.
Over the years, the battery system provides uninterrupted power, supporting teaching, research, and digital services for teachers and students, demonstrating the practical value of reliable UPS batteries in educational applications. For Vision Battery, this project is also a major milestone in successfully applying its energy solutions to educational facilities.
