Japan's data center market is growing steadily, with Tokyo and Osaka as the main hubs for large-scale deployment.
S** is one of Asia's leading data center service providers, serving global cloud providers, enterprises, financial institutions, and digital content companies. In Japan, the company operates multiple data centers mainly in Tokyo and Osaka, with total IT load capacity exceeding 180 MW. To support continued growth, S** launched a data center expansion program, including upgrades to critical infrastructure such as UPS backup power systems.
Customer Challenges & Requirements
During its data center expansion in Japan, S** set clear requirements for UPS backup power systems.
1. High Space Efficiency: Space is limited and expensive in high-cost cities like Tokyo and Osaka, so the UPS battery system must deliver required backup power while minimizing floor usage, allowing more IT racks to be deployed.
2. Safety and Compliance: The solution must meet Japan's earthquake conditions and strict fire safety regulations, ensuring safe and stable performance under extreme situations.
3. Advanced and Sustainable Technology: S** requires modern, green backup power solutions to meet the sustainability expectations of its high-end data center clients.
Project Introduction
Vision Battery Solution
To meet S**’s requirements, Vision Battery offered 240 units of REVO 2.5 TP240 UPS lithium battery systems, delivering high-power output under 5-minute EOL backup scenarios, ensuring fast response, stable performance, and reliable operation.

Features of TP240 UPS lithium battery system:
1. High-Rate Cells
Equipped with Vision Battery's proprietary 6C high-rate cells, the system delivers higher power output, with a single cabinet supporting up to 396 kW.
2. High Space Efficiency
The TP240 battery system is built with a safe full-copper busbar and a compact design that delivers high power in a small space. It is highly integrated, saving 40–50% of space compared with similar products.
3. Cloud-Based Management
Real-time alerts for cell short circuits, temperature, and CO gas. Supports both mobile and PC access for intelligent monitoring and maintenance.
4. High Safety Validation
The battery cells passed 3-meter drop tests without fire or explosion to prove they can handle frequent earthquakes in Japan. Electrolytes were also tested to meet strict fire safety rules, ensuring safe and reliable operation even in extreme situations.
