Vision Launched the Unique Hydrogen-Lithium Integration Solution

On October 18, Vision celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand ceremony in Shenzhen. During the event, Dr. Tang Tingjiang, Deputy General Manager of the Hydrogen Energy Division of Vision, delivered a keynote speech on the "Launch of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Products." Addressing the challenges of heavy trucks, energy storage, and backup power for diesel generators, Tang showcased Vision's unique hydrogen energy solutions, referred to as "one of a kind."

The latest data shows that, since the end of 2021, the five major national fuel cell vehicle demonstration city clusters — Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhengzhou, and Hebei — have collectively promoted 15,000 fuel cell vehicles. Tang stated that China's hydrogen fuel cell market is developing rapidly, driven by these demonstration clusters. The entire hydrogen energy industry chain, including hydrogen refueling stations and key components, has been significantly improved. The hydrogen energy sector is advancing rapidly, with over 20,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles expected to be operational nationwide by the end of 2024.

Hydrogen energy offers a wide range of application scenarios, not limited to transportation, but also in telecommunications, power generation, and energy storage. Vision offers products and solutions for various applications, making it the only domestic hydrogen energy company with full-scenario coverage, truly "one of a kind."

Heavy Truck Scenario: Hydrogen-Lithium Hybrid Technology Solution

For heavy trucks, pure hydrogen and pure electric trucks face challenges such as limited driving range, low system efficiency, high operating costs, long charging times, and poor performance in low temperatures, all of which hinder wider adoption. To address these issues, Vision introduced the "one of a kind" hydrogen-lithium hybrid technology solution, effectively solving these pain points.

This solution comprises three unique technologies:

1. The world's only paper fuel cell stack technology. Vision's paper stack uses new materials and processes, combining the advantages of graphite and metal plate stacks. With a power density of 6.0 kW/L, it exceeds the industry standard by 10%, has a lifespan of 40,000 hours (double the industry average), and is more suitable for mass production, costing only two-thirds of competing products.

2. The world's only paper stack fuel cell system, offering a power density of 1.2 kW/L, over 10% higher than competitors. Its efficiency reaches 60%, 10-15% higher than peers. The system also boasts strong environmental adaptability, with no power loss at 3,000 meters elevation and -40°C low-temperature self-start, ideal for high-altitude applications.

3. The only fast-charging, high-rate lithium battery technology for commercial vehicles. It complements the fuel cell system in three ways: fast responsiveness, extended cycle life, and thermal efficiency. For instance, the lithium battery discharges at a 10C rate, supporting high-performance discharge during acceleration or climbing. In cold environments, the heat from hydrogen-oxygen reactions in the fuel cell can warm the lithium battery, enhancing charging and discharging efficiency.

Based on hydrogen-lithium hybrid technology, Vision launched Hybrid Expro. Tests on this hybrid heavy truck at a steel plant in Wuhan showed that the technology could reduce comprehensive hydrogen consumption by 60%, saving customers 600-800 RMB daily and over 500,000 RMB throughout the truck's life cycle, laying the groundwork for large-scale adoption.

 

Energy Storage Scenario: Hydrogen-Lithium Integration Energy Storage Solution

In energy storage, traditional lithium battery storage faces challenges, such as limited scalability, short storage duration, and high upfront costs. To address these, Vision introduced a "one of a kind" hydrogen-lithium comprehensive energy storage solution with three distinctive features:

1. Cost-effective storage: Lower upfront costs, about 10% cheaper than pure lithium battery storage.

2. Scalable storage: Large-scale, flexible storage achieved by expanding hydrogen storage tanks.

3. Long-duration storage: With hydrogen storage, there's no energy loss, and hydrogen can be used for power generation, automotive fuel, metallurgy, and chemical industries, allowing the system to adapt flexibly to various storage needs.

For hydrogen-lithium storage, Vision has developed three core products: a megawatt-level PEM electrolyzer, a megawatt-level fuel cell power generation module, and a high-rate lithium battery storage module. This system achieves over 40% efficiency for power-hydrogen-power conversion, with a lifespan exceeding 40,000 hours.

 

Backup Power for Diesel Generators: Power Generation-Hydrogen Production Reversible Solution

Backup diesel generators often suffer from noise, vibration, high maintenance, and emissions.

In response, Vision introduced a unique reversible power generation-hydrogen production solution, featuring reversible stacks and systems that can produce hydrogen through electrochemical reactions. This solution boasts high efficiency, is maintenance-free, reduces costs by 15%, volume by over 30%, and noise at full output is around 60 decibels, significantly lower than diesel generators' 85-120 decibels, with zero pollution.

 

Vision hopes to collaborate with partners to build a hydrogen energy ecosystem, integrating resources to drive hydrogen energy development further. Vision aims to remain the "one of a kind" hydrogen brand, delivering valuable hydrogen energy solutions to the industry.
