Cross-border hydrogen pipeline construction in Europe picks up speed

Recently, the energy ministers of Italy, Germany and Austria signed a cooperation agreement for the development of a hydrogen transport pipeline, expressing their desire to build a new pipeline for the transport of hydrogen between North Africa and the European continent. It is understood that since the second half of last year, nearly half of the EU member states have announced plans for the construction of cross-border hydrogen transmission pipelines, which are expected to significantly increase the amount of hydrogen imported into the EU and significantly speed up the development of the EU's hydrogen energy infrastructure.

Hydrogen project FEED research receives $13 million from Australian government

The Australian Government has allocated A$20 million (US$13 million) to support a pre-engineering design (FEED) study of a large renewable hydrogen project in Queensland.

The funding, provided by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) on behalf of the government, will be used for Stanwell's planned project in Gladstone.

The A$117 million (US$76.5 million) project will complete the development phase of the Central Queensland Hydrogen Project (CQ-H2), which will initially produce up to 640 MW of electrolysers for the production of green hydrogen, to be purchased by purchasers and converted into ammonia and liquid hydrogen for export.

The facility is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2028 and will produce 200 tpd in the first phase, after which it will gradually increase to increments of 200 tpd as additional purchases are gradually made, with plans to reach full capacity of 800 tpd in 2031.

Nike launches its first hydrogen-powered inland container ship, reducing CO2 emissions by 2,000 tonnes per year!

Global clothing brand Nike has launched the first hydrogen-powered inland container ship, the H2 Barge 1, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The converted 110m x 11.45m container ship was developed by Future Proof Shipping (FPS) and chartered by Nike's BCTN network of inland terminals in the EMEA region to carry Nike products between Rotterdam between Rotterdam and the European Logistics Park in Belgium. The vessel is now equipped with hydrogen fuel cells and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 2,000 tonnes per year.
